Video Recording, Streaming & Quality

Getting Started | Taking Stats | Video & Streaming

Water Polo Stats turns your tablet or PC into a professional broadcast setup. Every recording and live stream includes a real-time scoreboard overlay built from the stats you're entering: no separate graphics software required.

The Scoreboard Overlay

Every video session, recording or stream, automatically includes a scoreboard overlay showing:

The overlay is baked into the video file and the stream. Viewers watching your YouTube stream see the same scoreboard as someone watching the final recording. There's nothing to configure per game. Once your club colors and team names are set up, every session looks the same.

Recording to Device

Select Record to Device as your output mode. When you tap Start Recording, the app begins writing an MP4 file directly to your device's internal storage, SD card, or a folder you choose on Windows.

The file is available as soon as you stop the session. Transfer it to a computer, upload it to YouTube, or open it in the Highlights tool straight away.

Live Streaming to YouTube

Select Stream to YouTube as your output mode. Your broadcast goes live on YouTube immediately, with the full scoreboard overlay visible to all viewers. You can also select from prescheduled streams.

Requirements:

Stream + Record Simultaneously (Windows, Subscribers)

On Windows, subscribers can run Stream + Record mode. A single session that streams live to YouTube and saves a local MP4 at the same time.

This is the recommended setup for serious game coverage:

The two outputs are independent. The stream can use a different quality profile from the local recording.

Video Quality Settings

Quality settings are found in Video Settings → Quality and Camera. Higher bitrate = sharper video, larger file size.

Free tiers (available to all users)

Profile Resolution Bitrate File size (est.)
Premium 1080p 30fps 20 Mbps ~9 GB/hr
Good 1080p 30fps 10 Mbps ~4.5 GB/hr
Compact 720p 30fps 4 Mbps ~1.8 GB/hr

Premium is the best choice for coaches reviewing footage on a large screen or uploading to YouTube. Good is a solid all-rounder — noticeably sharp, half the storage of Premium. Compact works well when storage or transfer speed is a concern.

Subscriber tiers

Profile Resolution Bitrate File size (est.)
Premium+ 2K 1440p 30fps 20 Mbps ~9 GB/hr
Premium+ 4K 4K 30fps 20 Mbps ~9 GB/hr

Subscribers unlock 1440p and 4K recording. 4K captures the full detail of a pool: individual player positions, ball flight, and referee decisions are all sharper when you're reviewing clips or presenting footage to players.

Note: 4K recording requires a device that supports 4K capture. Most recent iPad Pros and modern Android flagships qualify. Windows recording resolution depends on your connected camera.

Highlights Generator

After a game, open the Highlight Reels tool and select your recorded game. The tool identifies the clips based on the stats taken and video markers.

To create a Reel:

  1. Select the clip types you want included
  2. Export the clip as a separate file or share it directly from the app
